Grid-Tie Box
1.Function:
The PV grid-tie box ensures that the electricity generated by solar panels is safely and efficiently connected to the grid. It provides protective functions against overloads, short circuits, and electrical leakage.
2.Components:
Typically includes circuit breakers for overcurrent protection, surge protection devices (SPDs) to safeguard against voltage surges, energy meters for measuring electricity generation, anti-islanding protection devices to prevent the system from operating when the grid is down, terminal blocks for secure wiring connections, and may also feature remote communication interfaces for system monitoring and control.
3.Application in PV Systems:
The grid-tie box is applied at the stage where the direct current (DC) from the solar panels is converted to alternating current (AC) by an inverter. It serves as the interface between the inverter's output and the grid, managing the flow of electricity from the PV system to the utility grid while ensuring compliance with safety and grid connection standards.
